Colombia: part one

Hi all! I am currently blogging from Bogota, Colombia after a week long adventure through the mountains, jungles, beaches and farmland of this amazing country. I feel like I am bursting at the seams so I will take my time and start with the gorgeous little town of Barichara. OMG. The name itself translates as ‘place for relaxation’ and it honestly looks like something out of a dream. The town is built on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and beautiful white stone houses painted in shades of deep blues and greens. There is a fantastic community of local artisans, gorgeous little stores, hotels (I recommend staying here) and restaurants (goat is a specialty). We left feeling as though we’d stepped out of time for what seemed like weeks. Here are just a few highlights from our time there:

1. strolling through the town;  2. the view from our house there; 3. walking through the surrounding countryside;  4. the beautifully simple, rustic interiors;  5. picking up produce at the Sunday morning market;  6. hiking through the jungle-y hills (LOVE this hanging moss – so pretty!);  7. sampling some local grappa;  8. learning how to make local dishes (look at the size of those green beans!)
