april showers by polder

We visited the Polder store when we were in Paris and fell in love with their necklaces with little pom poms.  So delicate, so sweet.  We were also drawn to the subtle touches of silver and gold that they spread throughout.  Such a simple and elegant little store!  See the April Showers by Polder collection here.

Bonpoint does it again…

Okay, are you ready? Because this needs your full attention. Silence your phone, turn off Pandora and prepare yourself for the smallest and sweetest of fashionistas…

woven play…again

I know I’ve already posted about Wovenplay, but I think they have some of the sweetest photographs and wanted to share them.  I like how they encourage children to imagine, dream and just be kids.

Bonpoint au printemps

For those who didn’t get their fill of sweetness yesterday… stills from the Bonpoint 2011 Spring/Summer fashion show… too gorgeous!

Playtime!

Yesterday we spent a lovely sunny morning down in Soho at Playtime NY. There were so many lovely people and products and we were so glad to see the event had grown since previous years. A few of our favourite moments included…

Gorgeous outfits by the fabulous Atsuyo Et Akiko; Adorable circus wall stickers by Mae; fabulous products and prints by Lalé; Embroidered cushions and artwork by Coral & Tusk; Beautiful mini furniture by Namhee.

Kids in the kitchen

Happy Chrissi Eve everybody! If these adorable little guys (from SmallMagazine) have you inspired at all, check out their recipe for organic Christmassy Snickerdoodle cookies (easily one of the yummiest ever). Enjoy!

summer fashion

I’ve been so inspired by beach-side fashion on my travels this summer: everybody is being so bold with colours and cuts. Belgium kids brand Maan has really hit the nail on the head with this funky summer line for littlies…

Hooray for Monday

Photography by Hannah Scott Stevenson

These lovely photos (from the very cute online childrens magazine Papier-Mache) have brightened up my day. Kids really do have all the fun… I wish I could get away with wearing this fabulous petticoat by Grandma Takes a Trip.

Clowning around

This photo shoot by French clothing company Catimini would make any child want to run away and join the cirus… what fabulous styling and composition! Love it.

elias and grace

photos courtesy of Elias and Grace website

I discovered Elias and Grace when I was perusing through the streets of Primrose Hill in London last year.  Such a smart store- clothes for mums and babies and kiddos- all in one!  Not to mention Primrose Hill is such a delightful place to spend an afternoon.  Visit the website to see their spring looks.

Baby, it’s cold outside

It’s a beautiful (but icy!) snow-filled day here in New York City. High time to treat yourself to some hot cocoa, a good book and find yourself a fireplace somewhere to cuddle up in front of. Or, bundle yourself and your little ones up and head out into the world for some winter fun. I’ve collected some of my favorite winter warmies for inspiration…

belle heir

I wish parents still dressed their children the way they used to.  It’s so sweet and sophisticated, and kids just looked like kids.  Can you imagine a child in the forties wearing a Dora the Explorer t-shirt and matching shorts?  Now come on…
Anyway, even though fashion for children has changed, you can still find some special pieces for those special occasions when you want your child to look like mommy dressed them.
Take a peek at all of the vintage pieces at Belle Heir.

Fred Bare

Doesn’t this photo shoot look so fun? I stumbled across Fred Bare, an adorable Australian clothing company the other day. I love love love the beautiful little children with their face paints and fabulous headdresses. You can check out their collection here. Unfortunately they don’t have any outlets in the US yet – lets hope they move here soon!

JCREW

I’m crazy about what Mickey Drexler has done with J. Crew. The man’s a genius. When I designed for babyGap, he was in charge, and now, he has reinvented J. Crew not only for men and women, but also for children. His vintage men’s store in Tribeca (housed in a rugged old bar) is sensational, as is the uptown women’s store on Madison. Great combination of classic, affordable J. Crew and the new and well, not so affordable, luxury pieces. Bravo.

KETIKETA

I discovered Ketiketa at the NY Bubble show last week. It is a French line specializing in clothing, pajamas and accessories for children up to age 8. The simple silhouettes are made from traditional Nepalese fabric which is block printed to create sweet, unique prints.

oona l’ourse

Oona L’Ourse is one of my favorite children’s stores in Paris. It is a tiny boutique with traditional french clothing. Not traditional in a way that is stuffy and stiff, but just that casual french look- muted colors, simple lines and fabulous little shoes. Their website is adorable too.

THE MAGNIFICENT BONPOINT

I worked for Bonpoint when I lived in Paris and loved every minute of it. I adore their new site- so hip and still so classy and elegant. The flagship store on rue de tournon is my favorite store in all of Paris. Casual perfection is the only way I can think to describe it. If you can’t visit the store, at least visit their site. And, be sure to watch the video clip from the style show. Adorable. Click here to visit the Bonpoint site.

THE WONDER OF WOVENPLAY

I’m crazy about the costumes created by Wovenplay. Good old fashioned fun. No video games, no computers, just unlimited imaginations!
