I visited Ruby Beets in Sag Harbor this past weekend and stumbled upon these beautiful photos by Mary Ellen Bartley. I always feel so peaceful when I’m walking, sitting, reading on the beach, so I was thinking how nice it would be to bring a bit of the ocean into my home. I just can’t decide on which one…
No wonder she’s so chic! J-crew style superstar Jenna Lyons spends her days in this lovely Brooklyn brownstone surrounded by all kinds of wonderful… don’t even get me started on the shoe closet…
I recently purchased a new coffee table book, Victoria Hagan: Interior Portraits and have so enjoyed browsing through it. Take some time to look at her website as well. You might be sitting in front of your computer for a while as it can really draw you in. I want my apartment to look like this!
A friend of mine was given a Terrarium yesterday for her birthday and it remined me how much I love them. They’re tiny little gardens, which is great for those of us who live in tiny new york apartments! This one was lovingly cultivated at Sprout in Williamsburg, one of my absolute favourite plant stores.
We are all in love with this space, found in Marie Claire Maison. It’s strikes the perfect balance… clean lines in a modern yet rustic and charming open space. Wouldn’t it be so fun to decorate for the holidays? I just want to plonk it down in the middle of the West Village, string little sparkly lights over everything, put my Christmas music on full blast and cuddle up in the loft with hot apple cider. Pretty please, Santa?
If you’re one of the few who haven’t yet feasted your eyes on the deliciously delightful work of Amy Atlas, you’re in for a treat. Amy is our December feature of the month, with some drool-worthy designs that will surely inspire some wonderful holiday entertaining ideas… check it out!
I realize I’m coming in a bit late with this post, but this Thanksgiving table setting (by Fiskars found via Black Eiffel) was just too cute to pass up. I know it’s meant for kids, but I’m definitely going to attempt it at the grown-ups table next year… Crayons in a pilgrim hat? Hard to beat that!
If you haven’t popped over to our website yet to catch our November Feature of the Month, I recommend you do so! Super stylist Shana Faust has produced such gorgeous stuff… along with her beautiful wedding work you’ll also find a whole lot of great holiday entertaining and decorating inspiration. (Can’t believe it’s almost December, by the way).
I have never stayed at Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, but think I might need to make a visit and check it out. It looks as if you are just staying at someone’s house, with a big back yard and lots of trees. It’s worth a try. (Don’t forget to go to Maudie’s for your Mexican food fix!)
The Crosby Street Hotel, designed by architect Paul Taylor and co-owner Kit Kemp, is a fabulous and sophisticated boutique hotel in SoHo. Right in the middle of all the action, but also set a little bit away from too much noise. Boutique rates can be a little steep, but you can always taste the experience by having cocktails and nibbles at The Crosby Street Bar and Terrace!
Room for Children is our new favourite book. It’s pages are full of beautiful, fun and sophisticated children’s rooms. Here are a few of our favourites!
Two of my favourite things are maps and Oliver Jeffer’s illustrations, so when I saw these beautiful prints for sale on The Royal We I was so excited. Each print comes with little pins so you can ‘chart your path to total American domination’! And the best thing? It’s my birthday next month, so here’s hoping! Found via Black Eiffel
My new favorite linens are from Matteo. I love the hand crafting and natural color palette. Their website isn’t fully functioning yet, but they do have a wonderful video which gives you a sense of their quality. In addition to linens they also have a clothing line- nice, simple and neutral. Click here to visit the Matteo website.
These hand-stitched flowers and accessories by NYC company EmersonMade, are exquisite (lovely photographs and styling also). As you can imagine, their designs are a big hit with weddings, however I think their little flag banners and floral garlands would be perfect in a nursery – especially this time of year!
In Australia, you can’t get five minutes into your design education without falling in love with Florence Broadhurst. She was a fabulously strong and interesting woman and her designs are still in high demand, adorning the walls, carpets and furniture of stylish homes all over the world. I love her bold colour palette and would DIE for a wall covered in the yellow bamboo print…
I don’t know if it’s because Spring has returned and with it, my obsession with unexpected pops of yellow and gold, but I am LOVING these beautiful ceramics and papier-mâché vessels by Up in the Air Somewhere. Susan Dwyer has found the perfect blend of clean lines and delicate, organic elements. Delish.
After a very indulgent weekend full of wonderful food and too much chocolate to mention, I thought I would post some of my favourite Easter ideas on etsy. From the top: an adorable little robin’s nest from ShabbyChic Cottage, pretty vintage hymnal eggs from pumpkin papers, cute speckled eggs from green baboon designs, and finally these beautifully coloured, hand dyed eggs from Syrendell.
