At Petite Alma we enjoy creating hand rendered art with watercolor and gouache. We often design in our "modern watercolor" style shown here, painting images of brands and items we are fond of as well as creating illustrations for clientele. We like illustrations that show the human hand behind them, natural and organic in their nature.
We were thrilled when our french distributor asked us to create the branding for their new and improved site, www.rosemood.fr, which merged their children’s collection with their wedding and adult offerings. As an online stationery retailer, Rosemood wanted their customers to feel a personal touch, as if they were collaborating in a design studio together with friends.
The logo shows the company’s boldness and traditional nature though the all caps “ROSEMOOD” and reminds us of the design process through the hand drawn “atelier”. Simple and easily identifiable icons are used to guide the customer visually online. When combined, all aspects of the brand tell the customer that Rosemood is a professional and friendly atelier that works with their clients through creative collaboration.
We had so much fun creating these little guys. We send them via text, short and sweet, and consider them to be our modern day version of a greeting card. We partnered with our friends at Umi Studio and turned them into iMessage stickers, which are available for purchase.
Another specialty at Petite Alma is our typography. Whether designing type for a holiday celebration or creating a logo, we offer a wide range of styles to our clients. Whether it's traditional calligraphy, a casual hand drawn style or a mix of all caps and script, all styles aid in visually enhancing the words to create a memorable message.
Le Petit Montessori came to us with a blank slate and an exciting challenge to develop the brand identity for a new parent-child learning program in Switzerland rooted in the Montessori child development philosophy. We share the program and founder’s belief in encouraging creativity, curiosity and self-confidence, and set out to create a visual representation of these values.
The logo speaks of confidence and self-discovery through the combination of steady, even type and flowing hand-lettering. That joint sophistication and playfulness appear in the two colors, both solid and bright, friendly and grounded. Centered between bold words, the “Petit” in script symbolizes children’s freedom to explore within a safe, nurturing environment.
Like strokes of a paintbrush, the hand-lettering of the graphic element further connotes youthfulness, individuality, and self-expression.
When three mighty moms and bloggers took the mother-child market by storm with Babyccino Kids, we came on board to help them rebrand. The website and blog curates content about children (crafts, travel guides, product picks) for an international adult audience, so the illustrations we designed combine cute, lighthearted youthfulness with a more polished, mature touch.
For the website, a one-stop shopping destination for all things tiny and fabulous, a series of bright, playful icons complement the brand’s hip ‘in-the-know’ style.
How happy we were to partner with Galison, international publisher of fine art stationery and paper gifts, on two collections of party and holiday paper goods.
Our holiday collection combines gentle watercolor with sweet illustrations on a Christmas card and matching gift tags, labels, sticky notes, mini journals, and stickers. A touch of glitter dotting Santa’s suit and beard gives our main character a bit of extra magic, while whimsical illustrations of animals ready for winter add cuddly charm. The designs were sold at Anthropologie, Barnes & Noble and the MoMA Design Store.
